The Honourable Robert E. Levy, OJ, CD is one of Jamaica’s most distinguished business leaders, having devoted more than six decades to the growth of Jamaica Broilers Group and the advancement of Jamaica’s agricultural and private sectors.
Mr Levy joined Jamaica Broilers Group in 1959, just one year after the Company’s establishment. Over the ensuing decades, he served in a succession of operational and executive leadership roles that helped shape the organisation into one of the Caribbean’s leading integrated agribusiness companies. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1993 and became a Director of the Company in 1996. In 2009, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Board, providing strategic leadership during a period of significant expansion and transformation across the Group’s operations in Jamaica, the United States and the wider Caribbean.
Beyond his contributions to Jamaica Broilers Group, Mr Levy has provided distinguished leadership across the public, private and charitable sectors. His extensive board service reflects a lifelong commitment to national development, education, agriculture and Christian ministry. He has served as Chairman of the National Commission on Science and Technology, the Sugar Company of Jamaica, the Caribbean Poultry Association, Jamaica Exotic Flavours & Essences Company Limited, Bellevue Hospital, Moorlands Christian Camp and the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf. He has also served as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jamaica, Director and Chairman of Back to the Bible Jamaica, Trustee of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Director of the King’s House Foundation and Vice President of the Rotary Club of St. Andrew, among numerous other leadership appointments.
Mr Levy’s outstanding contribution to business and national development has been recognised through many of Jamaica’s highest honours. In 2002, he was awarded the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (CD), followed in 2019 by the Order of Jamaica (OJ) in recognition of his distinguished service to the agricultural sector and philanthropy. He has also received honorary degrees from the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology and Northern Caribbean University and has been inducted into both the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica Hall of Fame and the Caribbean Poultry Association Hall of Fame. His many other accolades include the American Friends of Jamaica Humanitarian Award and the Gleaner Honour Award, reflecting the breadth of his contribution to business leadership, national development and community service.
A graduate of the Owner/President Management Programme at Harvard Business School, Mr Levy has been married to his wife, Judy, since 1964. Together they have raised four children, Christopher, Wendy, Amanda and Stephen, and are the proud grandparents of fourteen grandchildren.
