Colonel (Col.) Jaimie Ogilvie joined the Jamaica Defence Force in October 1988. After completing initial officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, England, he was posted to the Second Battalion the Jamaica Regiment, where he spent the next nine years of his service. During that time he held various command appointments and deployed to Haiti in 1995 as the Operations Officer of the CARICOM Battalion, under the United Nations Mission in Haiti, which took over from the US led Multi-National Force (MNF). He subsequently served as the Commander of the Military Training Wing (then JDF Training Depot), Newcastle, where he had direct responsibility and oversight for the training and professional development of all recruits, Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Young Officers.
He completed his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Management at the University of the West Indies (2000). In 2005 Col. Ogilvie completed a Master of Science in Defence Analysis at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California; he then read for the Master of Military Arts and Science (Strategy) degree US Army Command at the General Staff College (Fort Leavenworth, Kansas). He is also Distinguished Graduate of the United States Army War College,in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he read for a Master of Strategic Studies, and a graduate of the Management Institute for National Development (MIND) where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Sector Senior Management.
Jaimie joined the Jamaica Broilers Group in March 2018 as an Executive assigned to the President’s Office, and currently serves as Vice President of the Hi-Pro Division.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Sports (2012 – 2016) and the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (2014 – 2016), and has served as a Lay Magistrate/Justice of the Peace since February 2011. He has been awarded the General Service Medal (1995), the United Nations Medal for service in Haiti (1995), the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service (2010), Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), the First Bar to the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service (2016) and the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) (2018).
Married to Joanna, together they have five children. He is an avid sportsman and sports fan, and enjoys reading, travelling and a good game of scrabble.
