There is a new chairman for the board of the National Housing Trust (NHT). He is Lennox Channer, Vice-President of Accounting at the Jamaica Broilers Group.
One of the island’s youngest female poultry farmers and Jamaica Broilers Group’s champion farmer Shelly-Ann Dinnall was specially selected by the World Bank to participate in a live panel discussion in Washington DC on the future of agriculture, entitled: ‘Future Harvest: Who Will Grow Tomorrow’s Food?”
NATIONWIDE News Network’s Abka Fitz-Henley was yesterday selected as this year’s overall winner of the Jamaica Broilers (JB) Group Fair Play Awards of Excellence 2015/2016 for his coverage of the bacterial infection that resulted in the deaths of over 17 babies at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in October last year.
Fitz-Henley, 27, won for his series of investigative stories on the ‘dead babies scandal’ that shocked the nation last year and led to Dr Fenton Ferguson’s removal as health minister under the then Portia Simpson Miller-led administration.
The disposal of operations at Port Esquivel, a positive contribution made by its latest US acquisition, plus improved results from Haiti fed higher net earnings for Jamaica Broilers Group (JBG) for the first quarter ended July 2016.
