VIDEO: Table Talk Food Awards Wows Cayman

What started as a conversation based on wishful thinking, two years ago at Camana Bay, Cayman, became a pinch-yourself type of moment on Thursday, November 5 when the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards Cayman Islands made its debut inside a capacity-filled Golden Sun Ballroom of the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.

The premier staging was not without nervous moments as a result of a torrential downpour, which forced a change of venue to the actual reception area of the Awards. By the time the first few awards were presented, however, it became evident that not only had the Awards found favour with industry players but was understood by those in attendance that the evening was exclusively theirs. Indeed, by the time Chris Levy, president & CEO of Jamaica Broilers Group, had made presentations to Feed Our Future, Foster’s Food Fair and the team at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort (for pulling out all the stops to ensure a fabulous event) and Jamaica Observer Managing Director Danville Walker had handed the Chairman’s Award to Robert Hamaty and Monique Hamaty-Simmonds of Tortuga Rum Company, there was that warm, fuzzy feeling found in the kitchens of so many of our childhood memories.

The camaraderie continued as congratulatory hugs, kisses and toasts were raised and expectations heightened for the second staging.

Cheers to The Best Dressed Chicken, our partners, and to sponsors National Commercial Bank and the Cayman Islands Yellow Pages.
