On Tuesday, January 15, the Jamaica Broilers Group launched its Best Dressed Chicken 60 School Tour at Sabina Park. The tour is scheduled to stop at 19 locations across the island over four weeks, reaching upwards of 25 schools.

The grand finale of the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the school tour, is a concerted effort towards investing in the development of Jamaica’s young people and is expected to touch the lives of up to 30,000 students across Jamaica within six Ministry of Education regions.

The launch event catered to over 4,000 students hailing from St George’s College, Holy Trinity High, Kingston College, Kingston High, Alpha Institute, Holy Childhood High, and Vauxhall High, where most students were escorted by teachers and chaperones to the Sabina Park venue.

Senator Ruel Reid, minister of education, youth and information, brought greetings at the event, encouraging students to live lives transformed by Christ. The minister said, “Through Christ, we can demonstrate peace, tolerance, and love for our brothers ... . Through education and Jesus, we are going to transform the country.”
MC comedian Ity Ellis had students, principals, and other guests in stitches of laughter between performances.
Carlene Davis led students in praise and worship before Rondell Positive and Kevin Downswell, ministered popular songs such as Cover Me and You Make Me Stronger.

School Tour Theme Song

Guests were also treated to the specially produced school tour theme song, Rise Up, recorded by all three gospel artistes, with live dance performance by Best Dressed Chicken mascot, Mr Chicken, and the Youth Reaching Youth, an outreach arm of the Swallowfield Chapel.

Speaker Marcus Williams, brought the word, and through the Best Dressed Chicken partnership with Island Special Constabulary Force, counsellors were available to meet with students on site. Programmes have also been developed to be facilitated through ISCF groups in the schools to follow up with students who may want to learn more about living a life in Christ.

President and CEO of the Jamaica Broilers Group, Christopher Levy, explained the rationale for the tour, noting that “Best Dressed Chicken is celebrating 60 years and we are committed to the development of this nation. Tomorrow, you will be leaders of this country and our investment is in you”.
