Jamaica Broilers, the country’s largest poultry business operator has acquired a hatchery in Pennsylvania, United States as it looks to service markets both at home and abroad.

Under the terms of the transaction, the purchase price is to remain confidential.

Jamaica Broilers already has a hatchery in the Midwest more particularly in Iowa but decided it would be prudent to have a hatchery operation on the east coast to better lower transportation costs to other markets in the United States, Canada and South America.

This new facility in Pennsylvania will be renamed “ International Poultry Breeders Hatcheries Inc

The Group, headed by the Levy family has made it its mission to become vertically integrated offering poultry products from feed, fertilized eggs, chicks to fully grown cocks and hens.

Vice President of Finance, Ian Persaud said that this acquisition now means that Jamaica Broilers now has two operations in the United States and if one were to go down, the other can service its various markets. He further added that its US operations account for around 30 per cent of its overall business and 40 per cent of its total profits.
