From farm to fork – mathematics powers Best Dressed Chicken

To wrap up the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information’s Maths Month celebrations, Region 7 hosted its first Mathematics Day on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Glenmuir High School. Keynote speaker Tresha-Gay Roper, product scheduler and service excellence manager at The Best Dressed Chicken—and a Glenmuir alumna—engaged students with an insightful presentation on the critical role mathematics plays in the production of one of their favourite snacks: The Best Dressed Chicken Nuggets! From precise ingredient measurements and production scheduling to quality control and efficiency calculations, she highlighted how mathematics ensures consistency, safety and excellence in food manufacturing.
